About

Cantor Marsh has been serving Temple Beth Torah in Chantilly, VA as cantor since 2001. Jewish, Interfaith, Non-Religious and LGTB couples have sought out Cantor Marsh to officiate at their wedding ceremonies. Wedding ceremonies may include blessings, prayers, and readings, and lines of Hebrew that are meaningful to the couple. The exchange of vows and rings are basic elements, and in keeping with Jewish tradition, the following are typically included in a service: the Kabbalat Kinyan – presentation and acquisition of the wedding contract (Ketubah); the wedding canopy (Chuppah) which symbolizes the future home of the couple; the sharing of wine by bride and groom,  the breaking of the glass; and if preferred Cantor Marsh will weave in the lighting of the Unity Candle to represent the joining of the couple and their families.

Cantor Marsh is happy to collaborate with another clergy member. While she  usually officiates independently, she will partner willingly with a clergy person that the couple chooses or one with whom she has successfully collaborated in past ceremonies.

In addition to performing weddings. Cantor Marsh also officiates at life cycle events –  baby namings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, and funerals.

Her duties at Temple Beth Torah include presiding at all liturgical services, and training bar-bat mitzvah students. Before coming to Temple Beth Torah, Cantor Marsh had the honor of serving at Congregation Shaare Tikvah in Temple Hills, MD, and Congregation Olam Tikvah, Fairfax, Va and Congregation Adat Reyim in Springfield, VA .
